Hi help needed I have just bought a termi system for my 749 I've also been offered cheap a power commander would this help and does any one know how they work Any info would be appeciated
I ran my 05 999 with termi asymetric and std ecu (as I bought it) for 5 years with no problems. You can set up PC3 from laptop via PC/website for various maps or have custom map written. I have PC3 on my SS with map for DP cans/KN and it improves bottom end, I have the accelerator pump simulator option live to about 35%. Have a look at their website. Other alternatives are ecu reflash to DP map or ecu custom remap.
i dont have power commander with my full termi , came like this so i presume it was already set up, runs with no problems at all.
If its about £100 you will always get your money back on it. It should come with a couple of leads, 1 that connects to lappy usb which you will need. Other accesories are cd which is not really needed as you can download free from DJ website.
I had a Power Commander fitted to my 999s with Leo Vince full system but wasn't happy with it. Got the bike to Louigi Moto / CJS and had the ECU re-mapped (and PC removed). Chalk and cheese. More expensive than a cheap PC but worth it in my book.
Does any one know of a good rolling road specialist in or around Manchester that could set up or remap
There's a couple of bits to the answer. When I bought the bike it had the asymmetric pipe and Termi fitted whith the appropriate ECU. It was okay but I thought a bit 'coarse' or rough. I had the chance to buy a Leo Vince full system at a very good price which got fitted. With the 'asymmetric' ECU fitted the response was rubbish with loads of flat spots. In an attempt to smooth this out I had a PC fitted and set-up on a dyno by a genuinely pukka outfit. While the response was loads better there was still a flat spot just off closed throttle which made riding the bike unpleasant - the bike almost had to be coaxed passed this point. I lived with it because the response and performance further up the rev range was good. I had spoken to Rich at Louigi Moto a number of times in the past about the subject and eventually one day I decided see what could be done. He told me Chris at CJS (who shares workshop space with him) could re-programme the original ECU and do away with the Power Commander. I gave it a go. I was chuffed. The already strong top end was unchanged but the flat spot off-idle was gone and the throttle response generally was better. The PC was now redundant and removed. Ok, so arguably the original set-up might not have been done as well as it could have - they were based in Kent and I'm in Gloucestershire so a bit of a hassle to go back. CJS are kind of 'down the road' and I liked the elegance of the re-map. This is obviously just my experience. It obviously all cost me extra but I'm more than happy with the end result.
