Hi folks, I’ve bought a second hand Power Commander III for my 1098s. After the expenditure, I’m doing things completely back to front and trying to find out a bit more. I have done some research but it was a bit of an impulse buy, hence me asking you lot after the event! I’ve got Termis on the bike. I think it’s a full system but not sure how to check. I’ve also seen maps for a full 70mm system. At what point in the pipe work do I measure to check? Im not after more BHP or torque, but really want to try and smooth the fuelling at lower revs (it’s runs quite rich going by the smell!). Would a standard map be OK or does it need to go in a dyno? thanks in advance, any advice gratefully received.
That’s what the dash says Chris. I’ve had a measure just below where the 2 headers go to the collector and it’s 70mm Am assuming the ‘off the shelf’ map on Dynojets site will be OK? Seller informs me this is what’s installed.
If you get TuneECU and the correct cables you can overlay the PC111 mapping onto the ECU map. Then reflash the ECU with the hybrid map. No need for the PC111. I have some connectors that I made up that allow the PC111 to be read on a PC (9v battery for power) using a USB cable and the PC111 software. If the full system PC111 map can be downloaded from the internet then no need to read the PC111. Sell the PC111 and buy more goodies.

Hi Chris Tune ECU now only available for Android, which I don’t have. Excuse my ignorance but are you saying I could use something like Tune ECU to flash the PC3 map onto my bikes ECU?
Using Android and a USB cable TuneECU allows PC111 maps to be overlaid on the downloaded ECU mapping. A new hybrid map is saved and this new map burnt to the ECU. It is worth buying a cheap Android Tablet (with Bluetooth) off eBay. Bluetooth allows diagnostic using an ELM 327 BT for routine work.
Thanks Chris. I got the PC3 for £100 so vs a tablet, software license etc I think I’ll see how I get on by using the PC3 plug and play. For someone like me, that’s probably the safest option. I have visions of me buggering something up if let loose with cables and software! I’ll let you know how I get on.
If I get chance this week end I will see if I can create the map. I’ll PM you if so with more info on how you can flash the ECU from a PC or Laptop.
I have created a 1098 Full System Map with the M729-002 PC111 map overlaid. Change the file type from PDF to BIN and it will work with Guzzidiag Writer.
With the cables from LonElec, a laptop/PC and Guzzidiag writer https://www.von-der-salierburg.de/download/GuzziDiag/ it is pretty easy to flash the ECU.
Before you try a PC or a remap, it’d be worth while getting the fuelling set up first. The ECU’s aren’t plug n play, they need a TPS reset and then the idle mixtures set and balanced. From experience, the DP isn’t all bad and a PC or remap is simply a sticking plaster over a poor setup.
Of course, how silly do I feel Thanks Nelly. I’ll discuss these with a mechanic friend who almost certainly knows a lot more than me ! @Chris I’ve saved the file. Thank you for that.
Sorry mate, I knew that but didn’t intend the hashtag to actually tag anyone! @chrisw as above mate. Thank you!
