Power sockets and top box power

  1. Hey;

    I wanted to see what my options were for getting power into my top box (so I can charge things while on the move on my trip)

    I am not 100% sure what the power sockets on the MTS1200 (2011) are, but doing some research would this do the job?
    Luggage Electrix Connector & 18" Powerlet Power Cable - Powerlet Products

    Does anyone else have a better idea/system?

    Cheers

  2. That would do it but very expensive for what it is. Have you searched eBay for a cheaper option?

  3. Hi Den;

    I have not searched for the best price option yet - I want to 1st see if this would do the job on the MTS (i.e - is it compatible with power sockets?)

    Please excuse my naivety

  4. From what I can see it is fitted with a 'DIN' plug that would fit in the Ducati sockets no problem. From there you would pick up a nominal 12 Volts. It is designed for bikes and Ducati use the same socket size as BMW and others. The Ducati system is not sensitive and would provide the power you need.

    I'm sure it would work well. You would just have to work out a tidy routing for the cable.

  5. cheers Den;

    I will hunt around the internet looking for a good solution :)

  6. Double check on Givi website , they used to do a contact kit for top boxes to get power into top box, and since the Ducati stuff is Givi it should work if they still do them ?

  7. They do a kit but I cannot find just the contact set anywhere, it's something I've been looking to do for a while now.

  8. I have dropped Givi an email asking for their thoughts and solution options.

    I will keep you updated.

  9. So have I!! Let's see if they answer either of us.

  10. Just got the following reply;

    ""
    Thank you for your enquiry

    We do a plate contact with wire for the stoplight. This will be
    available for order from your local stockiest of which a list can be
    found on our website.

    Many Thanks
    """

    Although this seems to be the cable that powers the bake light (for the Givi boxes)

  11. Givi have just confirmed that it is only for power to the stoplight.

    So - may need to re-look at the Powerlet option....

  12. Same answer! I need the power plate though as it's a box on, box off job for the [power supply with no arseing around with plugs.
