Paul, did you approach them with details of your bike or did they advertise for a need for Supersports?
I know the feeling.... The bikes all look good in the article. Lumbux's and the 900 above it ate the smarter of the 4 IMHO. Well timed article actually - shows the bikes off well and a good motivator to get the last niggly bits on mine finished!!! Mick..
The story is I put the 400ss forward for the under a grand resto, and sent in pics of both(the 400 owes me about £800) and added the 750 just for shits and giggles. Next thing get a email wanting to speak to me asap about the 750 as they were struggling to find four 900 that had been restored, and as they say the rest is history. As for the cans, my intention is to shorten them over the winter, there off an IE so may be why they are longer
Good to see an owner article on the early SS, 'course any proper feature ought to include talking to someone who had owned, repaired and ridden 400/600/750/900 but that would be a really difficult one.
How unhelpful that they did not include an SS IE, allowing readers to learn that the later bike is not only cheaper, but normally in better condition, faster and with better handling....
i.e. 's time will come i'm sure Rich - was tempted by one earlier in the year, and it's still available I think - a good condition 750 for £1300 - a bargain for sure.
Here we go on the subjective then.....oh no it isn't. The carby bike is ugly....We have both models as well and we decided to cafe racer the carby one and tune and lighten the IE one. It had so much more potential and for only £1900 was in nearly new condition. So it would have been wrong to hack it. I think people did not look after the carby ones as much, perhaps because ducatiwere not really that big a deal until the 916. Our IE has that much better looking swingarm, 5 spoke Machesinis and Ohlins shock. Absolute no-brainer which is the better bike when you ride them side by side and when you look at the detail on them. Subframe, rear sets, lights, tail piece.....all miles more elegant
