hi all. Pulled the pre filter out this aft while doing the oil change. I suspect this was the first time it's been done as the standard shite bolts still looked unmarked. Bike's done 14,000 miles and TBH I think the filter has done it's job by stopping this lot from floating about through the engine. Does it seem like a lot of steel for the mileage? Put new O rings on and some gasket sealant around the plate. Thanks, Ian
Yes the shell bearings are like a bronze colour so it looked like if be panning for gold It was at about 10k, it was like a tight link in the chain, a strange vibe through bike and pegs but ran fine so to speak. Ended up with new crank as goodwill from Ducati but I paid for rest, so whilst apart put all new bearings through out and now it's sweet as.
This is my only real concern with my 1098 - I've read a few horror stories about 1098 main bearings. I'm going to be pulling the gauze filter out soon as part of its service. Hope there's no bronze bits in there.
