Pro Twins dealer not much help today

  1. Guys, not 1 to name or shame. But...

Brought my new (old) bike today privately.. Overall very happy with it. Going for a plane colour change if I can sell the new fairings that came with it..

Anyhow.. Guy I brought it from was a bloody diamond.. Very honest... & done me a great deal, he mentioned he got it from pro twins as a track bike but only used it 4 times in 12 months, I've brought it to stick back on the road..

It has no service history but was told it's spent it's life being taken care of by pro twins in Sussex. I rang them to get the low down on the history of when belts changed etc.... All I got back was yep we know the bike but it would be 2 much trouble to get all the history together why not spend £400+ pounds to have the belts done etc....

Not the Ducati family customer service I was hoping for...

    Have I missed something?!?

    Gutted now

  2. Must've spoke to Brett.

  3. Pete I think the guys name was... Was stunned really. I gave him the previous owners details & the 1st owners also... So not much digging needed 1 would assume

  4. this is always going to be 'speak as you find' but - you are not alone jango

  5. Pete, Rob and the tech's always been extra helpful whenever I've spoke/used them, maybe they were busy?

  6. Don't take much 2 say that. He said the 1st owner was a regular.. But didn't tell me anything more. Which felt funny as if he knew something sinister?? Just put a bad taste in my mouth after spending a few pennies this morning on my 1098

  7. that sounds like pretty poor customer service. personally, i wouldn't bother going back there. but that's only my opinion and without knowing all the ins and outs.
i was expecting much of the same today TBA on my 1st trip to ducati leeds.
i was pleasantly surprised by a warm welcome and some good advice on my new bike. the bits i bought seamed reasonably priced as well. this doesn't help you much, but just thought i'd mention it. good luck, anyway!

    br, ian

  8. That's their normal response. I think they're afraid of implying some sort of warranty.

remember, Saturday is their busiest day. I've been there waiting to pay when someone phones about something which might not give them any income. Also, I think they've got a man off long term sick too. Pop down in person one day when they're not likely to be so busy.

  9. But after my 1st impression I won't give them the time of day just like they did to me... Gutted I don't have an incline of what the history is off my new bike...

  10. Were you likely to take the bike there to be serviced? Or buy something to get back to standard? Are they local?

Sure in an ideal world they will be gushing with help but this world is a rough one, and maybe they as said above were busy, but then again maybe just lazy

  11. Not so much in an ideal world, but in a world where dealers are crying that times are hard, pissing off a potential new customer is rather short sighted id say. Jangol could be sat with a fleet of bikes that need looking after for all they know.

For piece of mind (if it were me) id have the belts done anyway and enjoy ownership from there on. Somewhere where customer service still means something of course.

  12. Well if you really want the info, you might consider giving them a second chance.

as someone else said, pop down in person on a week day, when it may be more quieter -sometimes the personal approach can work wonders. Give them the benefit of the doubt, for maybe a misunderstanding-they may appreciate your feedback and be more helpful for you. You never know. Always worth a go or thinking about. We are after all, human, are we not.

All depends how keen you are for your info really.

  13. Not having a dig. Why didnt you buy a road bike with service hisory, rather than a track bike with none?

  14. Yeah poss, try them in the week day.. As for buying a low mileage track back. Guy was a true gent the price was right & as he got it from pro twins I heard prior to speaking to them that they had a good rep..

  15. The possibility is that the bike you bought had 'some history of the not so good kind' and Pro Twins didn't want to get involved. They probably read on this forum the hullabaloo that occured with,I think, with another highly recommended Ducati dealer last year
I have dealt with Pro Twins over a few years now,for both servicing and purchase, and have had brilliant service and help throughout.
If you buy a bike with little or no service info available at point of sale I think it is probably to late to get any history now, especially on a track bike.Best to get it serviced and ride/enjoy it.

  16. Thanks for your input.. Not sure why it would be too late if they looked after the bike & even sold it.. Just poor customer service in my eyes still. Glad you've had good customer service from them. Unfortunately I didn't. Which is bad news.. Like I said I'm happy with the bike. Was just after an insight into the bike

  17. Too late from the point of view that any worthwhile history attached to the bike would have been passed on to you by the person that sold it to you.No motor daler wants to get involved with divulging info regarding a bike they have previously sold,to an unknown third party. They could for example say the bike was a complete shonker, where would that leave you and your view of the price you paid, and the integrity of the person you obtained the bike from.A possible can of worms to contend with..

  18. this is something I have a bit of an issue with - not for you particularly, but in general. In this case, you're not a customer. A potential customer maybe, but you're expecting a guy to drop what he's doing, with paying customers in the shop (I'm assuming, being a Saturday), to answer your questions. They don't know you from Adam - you haven't bought anything from them and (again I'm guessing) you haven't asked them to do any work. I know of a couple of Ducati dealers who could well be a lot more rude than Pete in the same circumstances.

Please don't take this personally - it's not meant as such, but maybe look to build a relationship with a dealer before you go wanting free information.

  19. I think (and Nelly may be able to confirm) that all service work is logged centrally with Ducati, so another dealer may be able to at least tell you that servicing has been done and when, if not the fine details?

  20. I think the O.P. should be allowed to have his opinion (as is everyone) and the rest of you ought to quit while you're behind ;)
