  1. Hi there about to pull the trigger on the 1200 touring having sold my bmw gs, couple of questions....

Is the mivv ghibli full system any good i can get it included in the deal, i remember my 1098 felt strangled with the standard cans on is putting an aftermarket set up on the multi the same difference. Wondering whether to stick with the standard set up.

Been told it will have 3 month warranty, should i be ensuring it gets a full twelve months, reading lots of warranty stories on here are there some big issues i need to be careful of?

  2. Hi SR, loads of threads on here about all of your points - I went for a second hand S Touring at 9 months old. It had the Ducati luggage and satnav both are good. It also had the remainder of the standard warranty and I've just extended for a year. Seemed like a smart thing to do.

I fitted an LV Decat pipe which made it pretty loud, but completely changed the feel of the bike, for the better. The best thing for me was keeping the standard cans, I think they look just right.

I'm sure someone else will be along shortly to give even more advice

No matter what, it's a great bike

  3. Don't let the warranty issues put you off as it is a cracking bike and does live up to the hype - best bike I've ever had.
Remember theres a beautiful v twin in there so you MUST bin the cat and let the world enjoy the music - I run QD's, no earplugs and search for tunnels

  4. Thanks for the input chaps, mind is made up, the chicken strips are about an inch each side and the mileage is tiny. I could go for a standard exhaust but i fancy liberating the vtwin. Bring it on.

  5. +1 with Vindaloo and the QD's as I run the same arrangement. No CAT, no DB killers. Sublime and a boatload of more grunt.
    Earplugs a must ;-)

  6. Deal is done pick it up Saturday. Red one, 60 plate, touring with r&g bungs, mivv full system, red matching top box and Ducati Tom Tom sat nav, 2600 miles from new and I have paid for a redcare warranty. Chuffed to bits!

  7. Nice one mate :upyeah: you'll love it, the only problem I find is the time to ride it all day!

Post some pics when you get it and let us know your thoughts.

  8. Congratulations on your new purchase, you'll love it! Next mod up for me is to bin the cat and sort a pipe that frees up the performance without being too loud. Agree, get some pics up asap. !

  9. The cat box with exhaust valve is/was the worst invention on the bike! Lost the cat for the Mivv decat and improved roughness and mpg immediately! Stupid exhaust valve gone too!

Then swoped the standard end can for the short termi....looked cool but too loud! Swoped the termi for a Ghibli end can, no db killer as that will choke the motor, and ride it with the end baffle in situ! Perfect!

On wild days I remove the 3 screws and take the end baffle out :upyeah::biggrin:

Ps wish you all the best with your new steed!

  10. Thanks multi rider, picked up today, very loud but very throaty i think the baffle is in but there is a baffle seperately in a bag, not had chance to work it out been riding it all day, 150 miles.

no jumping gears but activated the heated grips, and intermittently on the go but pressing no buttons 'heated grips activated' message popped up, does that indicate the electrical current level to power the grips dropping out and switching them off/on? All seemed a bit random??

  11. 'heated grips activated'

Perfectly normal it is just a reminder that they are on thats all.

  12. yep, I think they cycle on and off to maintain a steady temperature. I believe once they draw current again they show the reminder. nothing to worry about. Suggestion: to preserve the ducati grips buy yourself (ebay)a length of cricket bat handle rubber and cut yourself some "grip protectors" a £3 quid job protects the Ducati grips which wear rapidly (3000miles and mine started showing signs of wear)!

Splay Cricket Bat grip OCTOPUS replacement grips bats | eBay

PS re the baffle, does it look like this: http://www.motorcycle-exhausts.co.u...ULTISTRADA_1200_2010_on_--product--12056.html

If it does sell it on ebay or better still throw it away. This thing will rob you of power and cost you mega fuel. It restricts the airflow big time. Ask Chris at CJS....
