Hello all, I´m posting this to see if anyone here on the forum experienced this issue and/or know anyone who has... Two days ago my dashboard is showing the right turning signal dimmed even when not activated. It occurs when any other light (ABS, N, etc) on the dashboard is on. As soon as all the lights are off the turning signal works fine. Don´t know what it is and i´m asking the forum members if they know the reason for this. Thanks all in advance! My video: MTS1200 dashboard problem.mp4 - YouTube P.S - sorry for the poor quality
I've just had a new dash on my 2010 Multi. It had your problem, but indicators wouldn't work + with the rpm display continually sweeping back & forth + other strange displays. It took a while for the dealer to find the problem, but they have now heard of one or 2 others.
Earthing fault inside the clocks. Surprisingly more common than you would think. Mine's been like that for over a year now, I have a warranty replacement lined up but refused to have it done until the first major service to avoid throwing the service indicator out of step.
Hi JPMTS1200. Pray tell, what was the build date of your bike? .........(He asks, hoping it's not later than his own).
May 2010. Does it make you feel better? I´m not Is kind of nervewrecking to see such an expensive bike doing these "things"
Not me.......May 2010 bike also..........oh hang on, I've already had a replacement Dash! Bike went in for the steering lock to be replaced and apparently the replacement lock had an electrical fault that 'blew' the Dash ECU!!!! Two weeks dead in the workshop :-( There's been a lot of talk on other forums about this exact same issue and a number of variations.....water ingress has been mentioned which may account for the earthing fault cause or be a separate issue........warranty replacement but wait until the bike is in for a scheduled service to have the replacement Dash unit fitted as the mileage will be reset and the service indicators out of sync otherwise.
Mine does exactly the same.....it's especially noticeable now because I have the exvl error showing all the time since I put the Mivv de cat pipe on. (don't worry have a date already with Chris to turn it off) I am not very impressed with the dash....the other day the sun was shining on it and lo and behold.....there was condensation on the glass where the mode selector area is. A sure sign that water gets in. The dash also rattles ie it's too loosely mounted, and is in the way of the steering lock.... I think I will go and put in a warranty claim.... Question....if I do get it replaced....I suppose one looses the current milage, or how does it work?
Yes - it will screw the mileage up - they can't or aren't willing to reset the new dash - a right PIA
Seems to be a generic fault. My May 2011 Multi S has just had a fault show on the dash at 5500miles. ABS light comes on when I use the indicators. Took it to SMC Sheffield and expect a new dash within a week or so. Unfortunately it has come back from SMC with dash showing "DCT OFF" and speed/mileage is in kilometres! Have spent this pm trying to understand the instruction booklet as to how to make the corrections. They look as though they are written in English but still cannot make head nor tail. Looks like a trip back to SMC to keep me legal before the new dash arrives. The Multi is still the most exciting bike thatI have owned in 55 years of riding and I have experienced excellent service from SMC both in the buying process and subsequent services.
This happens when the battery has been disconnected, its a really easy fix, hold the main beam flash and the select button in when you power up, you will get unit displayed in little window, then go through and change to mph, MPG etc......
Thanks for all the feedback. I contacted my dealer and he already reported the problem to Ducati. Waiting for an answer at this stage, BUT it will not stop me from riding this amazing bike every single day of the week I´m just concerned that prblem grows bigger to the point of the dash stop working...
