Project "dark Horse" 748 Hybrid

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by Tommy B, Jun 3, 2015.

  1. I've been working on collecting bits for my race 748 framed project, so thought a build thread maybe usefull.
Still collecting parts, having bits altered/made and modified...however will commence building soon. Spec will evidently change along the way...but most is sourced.

    Brief spec below -

    - 748s frame (modified)
    - 1098s motor, Corse close ratio box
    - Leovince Titanium 57mm 998s system (modified)
    - Ohlins Radial billet bottomed forks with 30mm Nix carts
    - standard yokes (modified)
    - custom wheel spacers
    - ohlins steering damper
    - Brembo Hpk Calipers
    - pvm wide track cast discs
    - billet clipons (modified)
    - Marchesini wheels (still like a set of mags or forged)
    - 19x20 brembo forged radial brake master
    - 16x18 brembo billet radial clutch master
    - p8 ally sub frame
    - cm composte large breather tank
    - corse/ms production carbon Kevlar 998rs panels
    - 748 rs carbon front subframe
    - standard road Swingarm (will eventually be a mag long arm)
    - ohlins rear shock
    - Cm composite carbon battery tray
    - ms production carbon Swingarm guard
    - 748r carbon airbox modified with removable sides etc
    - translogic dash
    - 748 loom ecu etc
    - corse style rearsets, carbon guards
    - various titanium bolts
    - plus loads more

Toying with the idea of a 1098 loom/ecu/dash etc to make life easier...

Pics of loosely assembled bits before I send frame off for welding and paint -

  4. Theres a few nice ones around. Even a yellow one!

  5. Becoming as common as much these ;)

  6. Perhaps all have a meet up at DUK silverstone day. you can all compare notes.

  8. Did you start a thread for yours?...can't remember??

  9. Certainly have, however feel I could do with reading back through it and making some notes. I'll be buying an airbox bottom for my 748r box off that exhaust chap (can't remember the company at present) Plus will be using 1098 electrics so should he a reasonably stright forward build.
Only real thing that's a stumbling block at present is getting round the ignition and immobiliser on the 1098 loom...I'd like to loose these and just run a toggle switch.

  10. Storm Exhausts make the baseplates and trumpets. IIRC 916ducati0 has something to do with them ,prob worth a pm.

  11. i run a 748r with 1198 loom and dash QS DTC no ign key microtec 197 ecu...........simples

  12. Chrisw on here and Chris at CJS can help you there. I have heard of other people doing similar builds using them for for the ecu stuff.

  15. @Tommy B
    You still after forged wheels?
I've got a set of forged wheels and discs of my 848 up for grabs.
For £1000 you can have the tyres on them too (less than two trackdays at Donny - Metzler racetecs)
Discs fitted with titanum nuts; I'll leave them on too.
Low price for quick sale as I want to get an RSV4 before the summer has gone...

    Cheers,

    Bob

  16. Hi mate, possibly..what do they look like?...send me a pic if possible. Tom

  17. Quick update...found some new wheels.

    17" forged Magnesium jobs :)

Can't believe how light they are!

  18. I have a forged HyperS on the back of my road bike, originally I didn't want to fit it, but to retain the period correct 5 spoke 'lightweight'.
That was until I held the newer item in one hand and old wheel in the other!
