Project Scratch Built Via Ebay 999/1098

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by Estranged, Jan 8, 2015.

  1. As the title says, i've finally lost my mind.
No pictures at the moment, will put what i've got so far up when I get the chance.
Got a frame, sub-frame, yokes, brembo wheels, ohlins rear shock and rocker so far.
Waiting on a carbon 996r style seat unit. And gotta pick up a set of 848 froks and 1198 calipers at the weekend.
Did I mention i've previously stripped and rebuilt my Aprilia RSV twice (second time being too lazy to put two engine mounting bolts back on, which were the two that help hold the crankcases together) and this is being done in my front room. In the warmth. Near the vodka.

  3. Love the way it's indoors! Good skills, good luck!

  4. Keep an eye out for bargains.
Ask on here if there is something you need. Most of us have parts in the garage.

@Tommy B is breaking a couple of bikes.

Looking good for a warm build!

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  5. They're very little wheels at the front there...

  6. You might need a few more tools as well :)

  7. haha,, I was thinking the wheels are a bit on the small side,, as is the tool kit,, but someone beat me to it,,,, yes mate,, all for the indoors workshop. ( personally I cover the whole floor with cardboard )

  8. Smaller wheel use smaller tires which cost less, right? :p
I've got a hammer somewhere else, so that's the toolkit sorted.
Indoors approach is for a couple of reasons. No room in workshop/shed as the Mille will be in there. Plus it's meant to be a "slow" build. So at the moment it's gonna act as an ornament.

I saw "slow" build and i've gone and bought an engine, exhaust cans and a loom...

  11. I have hundreds of parts for sale, even down to the little niggly things you may need for this build...give me a shout if you need anything (will try to be as competitive as possible)

  12. Quicker turn-in too... ;)

  13. Things have taken a turn for the worse...

The 748's been replaced with a 999, for now.
But at least it's not yellow.
    :p

Here's a couple of pictures of the newest version of the project.

Big thanks to Mr Nelson for the deal on the engine and letting me borrow his yoke nut tool thingy.

  14. is that the 1098 that went poop?

  15. I'll find out when I get round to testing it :p

  16. Vodka is still obviously involved in this idea...
Is anyone generous enough to donate some parts to this project so I have a working bike?
The Mille is dead and being an "environmental officer" i'm too poor to lay out the money to get this project running.
Donations meaning until I get paid to pay you back for the part/parts/services that have been offered.

  18. It is until I get the Mille out of the shed, however that ends...
    I'm in dagenham

  19. How did you get the 999 in your car, any photos of the 748 or is it still the same as the top photo.

  20. The first picture of the second lot is how I got it back. In the back of a fiesta.
Didn't get any further with the 748. Went for the 999 as I was getting fed up waiting for 748 parts to come up for decent prices
