Project SS (ShoeString?)

  1. having limited funds and dodgy vertabrae I decided to use some of my spares over the winter in an effort improve comfort (surprising what you collect over 20 years ss ownership "yes dear, of course it's all important stuff")so the bargain banana ssie I picked up last October is now living in a carby environment, it's not pretty, but it's pretty cheap at £2k all in so far. stuff the money, I'm having fun!
bodged some temp indicators on to get the MOT done, but the full fairing will soon be fitted to hide the scruffiest lump. IMG_2900 (800x600).jpg

  2. Howdo!!!

Good to see! That's the beautiful thing with these bikes, they are so addictive when you start working n updating, maintaining. Keep the photos coming!

    Best of luck Pablo

  3. Thanks Pablo, you're right too! i was surprised how straight forward it was, from the ssie i used the engine, wheels and suspension, lock-set and wiring loom / electrics. I'm not too worried about the standard performance, gawd knows i get into enough trouble with that, and i'm nowhere near up to your standard of improvements, your SL/ST3 build is exceptionally good. I sort of blew my effort (budget) on my '92 ss last year.
    will update asap.
    cheers

  4. Nice project Wah  Any pics ?

I have done something similar and fitted a ST2 engine in mine.

  5. thanks Imola, yes i've seen your project and very nice too:smile:

as for my pictures i've been a bit lax with documenting stuff, (it's not nice n'shiny) i've had the half faired from new so she's almost family now and gets most of my attention, it tends to be a work in progress and in winter 2010/11 she got treated to new paint (frame and bodywork) and i feel as though it's in danger of becoming a tarts handbag.

as for the injection project it sort of started life as a dry build just to see what fitted and what didn't and i got carried away once it started all going together and i ignored the cosmetics, but i took some mainly to help remind me where the bits like the wiring should be.
    cheers
