Pure Dab 3 Not Working

  1. Fellow members

I need your advice re my Pure Evoke 3 DAB radio. A few months ago the power adaptor on my DAB radio packed in and so I ordered another from Pure. Whilst waiting for it to come into stock (one month) I had already tried the adaptor from my brothers identical radio to ascertain that it was the adaptor.
Whilst waiting for it to be delivered I tried a similar adaptor from another portable advice desperate for my radio.
Now that the new adaptor has been delivered my radio does not work at all even with the adaptor from identical radio. It did before.
    Have I blown something?
Does it have an internal fuse?
It is by far the best digital radio I have heard and I can't afford an expensive repair.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

Perhaps ask the makers, sometimes the support functions can be surprisingly helpful-nothing ventured nothing gained.

Alternatively, there may be a dab/electronics guru along shortly.
Could be something to do with the rating/power of the 'other adaptor' , but I am not one of the aforementioned experts. Perhaps pure can give you some guidance/tests to check.

It seems it went wrong after using your brothers adaptor-presume it worked ok using your brothers one? -, which is when you used the similar one-could be a coincidence.

Thanks For yr response. Could I have blown/burnt something out by using an salat or that was too powerful?

  4. There is a possibility that when you inserted the 'similar' adaptor it wasn't the correct diameter plug, and could have distorted the internal switch that lives inside the plug socket that serves to switch between external and battery power.
Another possibility ; easily checked btw, is that the 'similar' adaptor is configured with a different polarity. This could have
Potentially fatal results for the electronics unless the radio is protected against this eventuality!

Did you check the voltage output from your adaptor?

  5. I had the same problem with a Pure radio , so thinking its an ongoing problem. After looking around I decided to buy another brand of DAB. Had this one months and lasting.

  6. Thanks for the replies and advice guys, i believe i have knackered the radio as it worked perfectly with the other power supply. Up until my stupid actions the things was working perfectly.

Will contact Pure tomorrow and see what they charge to try and fix it.
