  1. HI All
Please excuse the questions if they seem dumb, just trying to suss what bits i should have.

Just bought a 1600 mile one owner 2010 1200s Touring and it's just been delivered, having had the 5 year service

Should the touring have a centre stand? I thought they did

Also, what keys should you have in terms of red and electronic?

The bike has had a sat nav and the cradle is still there, would like to find which nav will fit it too if possible, have taken some pics

Also would like to find a top box with pad, budget though is only 250 delivered
    Thanks a lot
    Paul B

  2. Yes the Touring should have the centre stand.
There should be one passive red electronic key and one black active transponder key (may need a battery).
    Don't know about the satnav.
Try finding a top box on eBay.
A 1,600 mile 2010 bike will probably not have had any of the common problems sorted yet, and is now well out of warranty so good luck with that. I would have recommended a higher mileage but fully sorted bike, if you could find one.

  3. Thanks. What are the most common problems? This has just had a fuel thing fail but that's being done

  4. Private sale or dealer? I got a 2010 S Touring from a dealer a month ago with 6100 miles on it... It's now in getting its engine rebuilt under dealer warranty.

Check the coolant colour (should be pink not blue). Check the history to see if the heads have been changed (probably not with that mileage). At only 1600 miles I wouldn't be surprised if the clocks had been changed for the misty neutral. Have you checked out the history and mot's etc...?

What colour did you go for, there are some red panniers and a red topbox on eBay at the mo?

  5. Get it plugged into the Ducati system at a main dealer, check current updates etc and fix anything as it occurs.

Then ride it and enjoy it.

  6. I bought it from a dealer. miles last years mot was 1383, this last mot 1515. The original owner barely ridden it. I'll look into the possibilities and give the dealer a nibble.. prime em lol

Bike was new 7/8/10, serviced 15/10/11 at 1015 miles
just had belts etc service at 1590 miles

  7. I may sound all doom but I don't mean to be. it's an awesome bike despite my engine going (and my mileage mysteriously resetting itself to 650 on the ride home from buying it). It's Italian so I forgive it all its transgressions. I can't stand my centre stand though. You're better off without.

  8. I made my dealer do the 5 year before I got it. I wonder if something wasn't done right, hence it blowing up 1k later.

  9. I did the same re service , the 5 year service was to be done. Ive checked the book and they have stamped the b service though, do i have mailed them and told them to clarify what theyve done and get the right service done if not. The service book needs to be right. I've also asked them about any updates etc. they have looked after the bike since new. Thanks for info

  10. Just checked stuff from when i was asking about bike.
    18/8/12 software updates done
    29/12/12 coolant recall done
10/11/14 ohlins fork bottom recall done

  11. Hi Paul

Yes, post pics of the cradle and we should be able to tell you which GPS it would fit. Apologies, my box is no longer available. Dealer miscomm; the box for the current DVT is not yet available so I'm keeping my current one and ordering the Urban pack bits separate.

  12. No worries, thank for letting me know. Need a rear stand too actually
Rode about 160 miles today and loved it. Brake fluid is pink so some of the stuff looks to have been done. I would like the springs to be a little firmer.. im 17 stone but otherwise the bike rode really well

  13. Do you mean the coolant is pink?

  14. Yep, should definitely mean the coolant is pink. Coolant tank is RH side of the tank. Most people go a spring up if they are of a more 'robust' size. I tend to leave mine in sports mode and have urban set with higher TC for if it lashes it down. You can try setting 1 plus luggage as it'll raise the back and firm up a little.

  15. yeh coolant sorry

  16. Oh and how's the wind blast above 60mph [emoji100][emoji15]

  17. Im over 6 foot 4 so i guess with my build i'm robust

  18. Though Tall Paul might have been ironic. Like calling my Grandad 'Lofty'. You must really feel the wind blast then. I'm 6ft and it hits smack on the helmet and the roar is shocking. I have winglets and Aztec spacers to adjust the wind blast but won't get to try them out until I get the bike back. Good news is they have all the parts now so I should get it back Wednesday.

  19. Yea. Short Paul would have a problem. Tall Paul otoh...

Ultimately, the Ohlins rear spring is a bit feeble. Ohlins have a higher rated spring which may work better. They also do an ECU addon module which gives it some semi-active charactor to the rear shock. Try suspension some specialists to get it all set up. Its well worth the effort.

O yes, for a start, crank up the preload rather than change the damping.

  20. Hi. I have a 2010 multi with ducati sat nav and my nav unit is the garmin nuvi 510.

you may be getting a letter about a throttle recall if its not already been done.

there is also an emergency code that allows you to start the bike if the fob key is lost or dies, the full instructions are in the manual, its a 4 digit code and some dealers set it to the last 4 digits of the frame number, this can be reset by yourself and I would recommend changing it to something other than a number stamped on the headstock
