Anyone fitted one of these - do they make much difference ? Looking for better performance on track days from my 749 without expensive engine mods
I think its a specific year that the r1/r6 used the required throttle . The good thing is that they are only about £15 brand new from the dealer so dont get hustled on one . I seem to remember 2004 being the R1 year.
Domino quick throttle is a really good piece of kit if you combine it with the cables, although not cheap. Have a guy in the US that's using them on his MV F3 race bike which spoken very well of them.
I used the R1 mod on my 749 combined with a large rear sprocket and it made a world of difference on the track - would highly recommend it. It just happens I have an R1 throttle that will fit your 749 and a Renthal 42 tooth rear sprocket, I could post both to you for £25 if you wanted...
Yep, did the R1 mod to mine as well, much better! A proper quick action throttle would be better on the track but i think for the road the R1 tube is a nice compromise between a shorter pull and not chopping the throttle everytime you go over a bump.
Thanks all for the info and advice Have now bought and fitted the Domino throttle and a 43t rear sprocket. Throttle fit was a bit a of bugger, had to carefully measure and cut the cables to size and remove the airbox to fit to throttle body. Interestingly the OEM throttle is made by Domino. Much better acceleration and response now, done a few miles on the road and hopefully it'll be better at next track day at Cadwell on 7th Oct.
