HI All Just a quick bit of advice please. Just had new tyres fitted and noticed exhaust gases are escaping from where it slips on (you can tell i'm technical). I have slotted it in further and tightened up the clip, but worried how tight to goes without damaging the exhaust? I presume it can be tightened until there are no gases escaping? Sorry to be dim , but don't want to cause any damage. Standard cans by the way. Any "constructive ??" help would be welcomed...
Shouldn't be an issue, but you can always cut up an old drinks can and trim a strip of the metal and wrap it round the exhaust. That will help tighten up the gap a bit.
When I first brought my 97 M900 a couple of years ago I found that the clamps that held the silencers on were binding up tight before actually clamping the pipe. I used a similar method to what's been mentioned above, but I was lucky enough to have some 0.5mm Stainless Steel shim stock in the garage. A strip of that under the clamp increased the diameter of the pipe enough to get it clamping again. Nasher.
