Just back from a quick euro trip to Belguim, to take in some WW1 sites. Left Gretna Green early Tuesday afternoon, on a newish to me 950s multistrada.. Headed over to Hull, to catch the 830pm ferry to Europoort, Netherlands. Crossing was not nice, gale force 7 winds during the night made for a rough crossing. We arrived in europoort the following morning, and had a leisurely ride down to Brugge. Zeelandbrug Bridge, and westerscheldetunnel were good fun . We had arranged to stop for lunch at "hermanus" biker cafe, on the outskirts of Brugge. Well worth a visit if your passing. I opted for the "King of the mountain" burger... then it was into Brugge for the night, and a nice air bnb located in the centre. Brugge is a gorgeous place...... The next morning, we had a few WW1 places of interest to visit, including Tynecot cemetery, Passendale, Hill 60 ect. Very much an eye opener, very moving. We had about 6 stops before we got to Ypres for the evening. Checked into an apartment in the centre of Ypres , before heading out for food and drink, before catching the last post ceremony at the Menin gate. This was my highlight of the trip, great to see lots of youngsters involved in it all. We had the Eurotunnel to catch the next day, so we were up and away after breakfast, with a quick pitstop at Dunkirk before catching the 12.10 tunnel. We arrived back in the uk on Friday afternoon, to terrible weather, and terrible traffic . We split the journey back with an overnight stop in Skegness, then a quick blast back up to the borders on Saturday. It was a great short trip, a real eye opener. Bike was filthy once home, gonna take a week to clean it. Time to plan the next trip now. Few pics....
