Having experienced a QS and down blipper, what's everyone's thoughts on getting a bike without QS now, or even traction control/rain/sport modes ?
We coped for years before they became common place. It wouldn't bother me if they didn't exist. Bikes were still ace before they appeared.
Bikes were indeed ace before they started being fitted as standard, but you certainly don't lose anything from going to one or the other (in terms of changing gear). They just make it a little easier and in my opinion, the sound and feeling you get using a quickshifter on a panigale, or any other bike I imagine, is sublime
I'm a little bit addicted tbh - I test drove an s1oooR 18 months ago and while I didn't like the bike I loved the QS which then led me to going down the pain route of retro fitting the factory QS to my non QS (and Non - aprc) rsv4...I think after having to buy rearsets, pay for the ECU to be reprogrammed, a section of the aprc loom and the factory QS (weighed in about 500 quid in the end) it was worth every penny. The crack that the v4 makes on the upshift is addictive to say the least. I then QS'd my z1ooo and currently working out how to add one to the 1100 evo sp hyper...that said if I cant I wouldn't be too worried but nice if I could..!
I'm not fully convinced about the stock downshifter and I'm considering fitting a HM shifter that only has the upshift (which I am 100% convinced is a good thing that makes you faster for sure). I dont think the stock downshifter is fast enough when pushing hard on track, although my opinion might be prejudiced by the shifters being unreliable on both my older S and new R. The problem when it is unreliable is you end up abusing the engine when it doesn't work, or worse if it goes wrong on a hard corner entry. The HM shifter has a strain guage instead of a switch which is supposed to be a lot more friendly. Unfortunately I dont have all the right parts to fit it yet. Even on the S1000RR which has an amazingly smooth action I still find it a little clunky when pushing hard.
Got a HM on the zed - very nice (ive had no problems so far!) but I have heard the Translogic is better... But, not enough for me to pull mine apart, remove it all and refit the Translogic....
It take me a moment to figure it out on a bike that doesn't have a QS, i thinking why is't it changing f***** gear! Ahh no QS! Then it gets my thinking about the one on my bike and why i love it.
Royal do a bit of homework on the HM shifter,i had one om my 899 (pro plus) and it was crap, alot worse than the standard shifter,i remember @Niven770 saying the same thing in a post a while back,i changed to a bike sports developments auto blipper and its faultless.
Nothing wrong with my hm. But there is a sweet spot around 8k which is the best area... That's about it though... Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
I think HM are great shifters but when fitted to my 899 it was worse than stock,i thought it was just me expecting to much but then read another panni owner thought the same, when i changed to a auto blipper the difference was night and day.
The reason I went for the hm was there is no stock/factory qs for the zed...I'd go factory everytime. Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
I have the tuneboy system on my multi. Love it. Best bit I've bought by far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ironically yesterday ive just bought a healtech qs for the hyper along with a gi pro gear indicator...ive got 3 bikes all with different gear ratio's so I'm riding the rsv4 thinking I'm in 6th when I'm in 4th or 5th and the zed and hyper in 6th and going for 7th... The reason I chose the healtech was that ive not been able to find any information about fitting the main manufacturers to the hyper (ie translogic and HM) plus brand new theyre too expensive for me....I got the healtech as it looks to fit around the linkage the best....ive seen bad quality pics on the net of QS's fitted to hypers with the shift bar behind the gear change but cant make it out... Once its on Ill put up some pics in the Hyper area....a bit of leap of faith but I thought what the hell may as well have a go and try it... Ill probably end up kicking myself here but I'm of the thought that theres no way for a factory qs to be fitted to the hyper?
I had healtech iqse on my gsxr 750, veery smooth, and lots of adjustability. Highly recommended. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fitted my healtech.... Everything works bar the actual shifter... I may have the coil plugs around the wrong way.... Have to check the weekend... Having said that it didn't state in the instructions which plugs to connect to which cylinders..... It just said "fit the coil plugs"...
You need to set it up. Connect it with your phone. Set the times auto or expert. Does it give a signal? Their customer support is very good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah... The the app is working, firmware update worked. Its measuring sensitivity (through the app) the test to cut the power to the coils doesn't though which make me think it's the coils plugs are the wrong way round... How i dont know though... I'll phone them tomorrow. Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
