Quick Shifter - Heavy Wear To A Gearbox?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Ian, May 27, 2017.

  1. much though I enjoy quick shifting up and down the box, what's the views on any long term wear / damage to a gearbox?
There's a logic that says as it's a standard fit the gearbox should be able to take it, but I'm bit apprehensive!
I don't use it regularly, but that think it's a brilliant feature....
    Thanks all!

  2. I use it all the time. Love it. And like you my thoughts are why would they fit it if it was going to cause problems?

  3. Some joker designed a dry clutch where the plates last 5,000 miles, so your logic is flawed :D

  4. The superquadro engine is 5 years old now and was designed with thicker stronger gears to accommodates qs ,I have not heard of any gearbox failures now the testeratta engine is a different story.

  5. New Supersport has a strengthened gearbox to cope with the quick shifter on that.

  6. Good article on qs and the way they work a gearbox in this months Fast Bikes magazine.

General consensus was they need setting up properly by someone who knows what they are doing as a one-size-fits-all type is not a great idea.
