Reading about the MV Brutale 800 RR and it mentions 'EAS 2.0 quickshifter that allows full-throttle upshifts and downshifts'. Are there any after market ones that can do this? Not specifically for Ducati's but in general Full article: 2015 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR and Brutale 800 Dragster RR First Look | Sport Rider
Yes A company called Pro Shift do various quickshifting systems including this Pro-Shift PS3.5 Gearshift System
Most bikes with fly by wire throttle are eligible for blippers, coupled with a shifter that has an output for a blipper such as the HM GP it could be possible to add the feature. Some bikes again with fly by wire throttle often have race ECUs that again support an input for blippers. The blipper feature in the HM GP is fully programable, when a down shift takes place it simply blips the throttle. Some new bikes (no names) have turned this feature into a gimmick imo, as its poor and crude, plus limited to when you can downshift without the clutch! For bikes without fly by wire a mechanical electro magnet or servo is required to blip the throttle such as the one Dave has pointed out.
I was going to say Throttle Blippers as above. But arthurbikemad knows more than me. Which isn't surprising. All I know is they relieve the need to manually blip the throttle on down shifts, but I don't actually know if you still use the clutch.
No clutch, much the same as riders who flick the throttle or "blip" the throttle by hand then downshift at the same time, Shifter, Blipper and a Slipper and you have no excuses.. All that happens is the blip unloads the gearbox so it can slide into the selected gear. When load is on the gears in ether direction you can not change gear.
So in laymans terms these systems on the 1299 and S1000rr etc are not actually using the clutch at all to downshift ?
Not at all, in the case of the BMW the system matches engine RPM to wheel speed when a downshift takes place thus the gearbox is unloaded and a shift takes place, the system does not require any input from the rider at all, close the throttle and downshift All BMWs with Shift Assist PRO have this feature
Awesome, some great replies! I need a version for dummies which I can just plug in and use, that website makes no sense at all for me
