Quieter helmet

  1. Well after changing from the 848 to a Diavel, the lack of fairings and screen have highlighted that my current helmet is noisy as hell.

has anyone got any recommendations for a newer, quieter one?

    Cheers

  2. An Arai RX GP is noisy. I wear them and love em but theyre not the quietest. I think Shoie are probably better.

I always wear earplugs anyway so never bothered.

  3. I have schuberth sr1 - how big's your head - happy to let you take it for a test

  4. Pretty big. Think I'm a large!

  5. get some earplugs much cheaper....

  6. Might be a bit of a squeeze then lol

Its a shame you cant test because it does vary person to person and bike to bike

  7. The two quietest helmets I've worn so far have been the Roof Daytona, and Bell MX5 Daytona.

Must be something in the name...

Of the two the Bell is much better built - really nice quality lining and only 1350g... That is my 'go-to' helmet if I'm travelling any distance at all...

    cheers,
    Dom

  8. +1 on the schuberth range. I have one that I use on the road if I want to be comfy. Compared to my Shark RSIs it's really quiet. With a good set of plugs and the wind deflector under the chin it's eerily quiet. I also use it if I'm racing in the wet as the standard double skin clear visor very rarely mists, especially with a breath guard fitted.

  9. If the modern Schuberths are as quiet as the old ones I have no hesitation in recommending them. My old C2 was a minger to look at, but swapping between an Arai and the C2 was like stepping from a rave into a library. Comfy too.

  10. Cheers. Might give a wind deflector a try first as I seem to be getting a lot coming in around my chin and neck.

  11. I was hoping Arai is quieter! I wear custom earplugs and still get a lot of wind noise in the Shoie.
I agree with Char, if you could test ride them first you'd pick the quietest, I guess that doesn't sell enough helmets.

  12. I believe the Shoei Qwest is a quiet lid, but other than that Arai and Shoei are probably the worst offenders when it comes to noise.

  13. The old Arai Quantum was good. The Corsair thing is rubbish - wind noise-wise.

  14. I can confirm the Schuberth is the quietest helmet I have tried, had all the Arai's Shoei's etc

  15. It's a trade off with ventilation isn't it. I like to have good ventilation during warm spells and so use ear plugs with my lids.

  16. Shoei GT Air is quieter but Schuberth's are the way forward if you want a proper quiet helmet.

  17. rsr2_carbon_red_angle.jpg shark lightweight and quiet much better than my old Arai and its carbon:upyeah:

  18. I have a Nexx XR1R Carbon which is pretty quiet and is just so light you hardly know you are wearing it plus the ventilation is the best I have ever experienced. It also has the widest aperture of any lid, half the price of my old arai too! nexx-xr1r-carbon-white-red.jpg

  19. Hi all.

How goods the nexx. I'm like the op. and want a new helmet. I've got arai gp and shoei. But really fancy the nexx xr1r Diablo

  20. They seem to be a young Portuguese company. Do they go racing?
