1199 Race Seat & Stomp Grip Review

  1. I recently bought an 1199 and after the first ride out thought I had made a big mistake, I kept sliding down the seat & ended up with aching wrists within the first 20 miles, came back very dissapointed.

I bought a DP race seat & some tank stomp grips, it has completely transformed the bike for me, I feel I have managed to get control of it. The seat is a lot more comfortable & is made of a suede type material which stops you from sliding all together. The tank pads enable me to grip the tank which has taken all the pressure off my wrists making it so much easier in bends. Went out for a 100 mile trip and no issues at all.

Just thought I would mention it incase there is anyone who has the same issue, spend the £160 on a seat & £40 on the stomp grips, worth it all day long.

  2. Fully agree, I couldn't ride mine on track in standard form.
Race seat and stomp grip I'm glued in the bike. Awesome difference

  3. Same for me on 899 made a huge difference and the race seat raises me up enough that my knees make proper contact with the stompgrips now too.

  4. Just in case you ever get old, like me, the race seat and the comfort seat are very similar in style and surface, with the comfort one being a tad more forgiving on one's boney behind. While waiting for Mr.Ducati to deliver the comfort seat, the OE one, not really fitting the job description and being more shelf than seat, I was lent a race seat. It is only very slightly firmer than the comfort one that I ultimately got (I'm around 14 and a half stone). My only complaint is that it's so grippy that I can't hang off easily on corners but have to unseat myself and climb around prior to the manoeuvre.
