749 Race Tyres

  1. Which tyres are you guys using and what compounds and why?

I'm new to racing this bike but have previously used the pirelli Diablo and dunlop 211 ntec on a cbr6 and the Dunlop's qualifier on the DD bike. Doesn't anyone use Michelins?

  2. i use pireli supercorsa's and metz racetecs on my 916 (because that's what i have to run on my racebike!) - they are great tyres. always used to use dunlop 211's or qualifiers on Track before I started racing.

i tried michelins once and I found they grip right up to a point then suddenly let go with no warning. won't put michelins near my bikes ever again - newer michelins may be better but i don't want to risk another fairing to find out.

  3. I use ex bsb pirelli slicks now, no problem with them, amd still think SC are hard to beat just wear rate is poor. You can pick up scrubs tho dep on rear wheel size

  4. How do you acquire the ex bsb ones? Are they different in anyway to the general release ones?

I think I have to run treaded tyres in my class though.

  7. Any links for good race tyres?

  8. Race on NEW ones, practice on scrubs. Ie, buy new ones and race on them, then use for friday early practice and swap to new tyres for qually and race.

  9. In Front motorcyles in Chester are a race tyre supplier. And the normal tyre supplier from the hottrax paddock will have a selection also.

  10. Which tyre manufacturer do you go with mike?

  11. Dunlop KR's (slicks) my preference, but not cheap. Bradders is trying to get me to use something else next year - BSB spec tyres or summat like that. 848 challenge spec tyres would be a good bet for your bike and class

  12. KR real pricey but turn like falling off a cliff and grip...boy do they grip. Little tip, dont mix front and rear different makes/models with slicks
