Racetec Slick Compk Slicks

Discussion in 'Tyres' started by Nelson, Aug 25, 2015.

  1. What are these things? They appear to be good VFM.
But where do they fit in the range?
    Anyone have experience of them?

  2. Been looking at this tyre as the next step from the Racetech K series and before trying adult slicks. Blurb gives me the impression that they are designed for the trackday veteran/club racer giving you the sort of warm up times of the treaded track tyre, don't need the higher temperature to maintain the grip and should last longer than a full on race slick. If you take a chance, I for one would be very interested in your impressions (no jokes please). Andy

  3. What were you running at Shawbury?

  4. Racetec K1 & K2.

  5. so the Comp K should be the next step. Andy

  6. Pretty much same tyre as pirelli sbk pro slicks just a bit cheaper

Can also use without warmers. Allegedly.

  7. I used them for the first time at Jerez this year.

The rear stepped out/slid easier than the Pirelli bsb slicks coming out of corners, to the point I had to ease off, rather then keep my foot in. As the grip never came back.

IIRC, the tyre guy had a low pressure setting on his chart but I ran them slightly higher.

I usually trail brake into some corners but the bike felt nervy with the front loaded on it's side but felt ok when easing off the brake.

Good value, yes, but depends on what you need.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  8. They are firmly an inters/slow fast group tyre. Hence Fe found them slide. I did too. So went back to proper slicks ;)

  9. Aye, they seem very unpopular with trackdayers. Lack of grip, lack of feel.

You get what you pay for.

Personally I run worn Bridgestone R10's. I get 5 days out of them and they grip brilliantly.
