They are frighteningly shite in a wet ( very ) Yorkshire !!!!! And Who dumped the worlds fuel reserve all over south yorks ???? Kin ell !!!!
I rode back from North wales once on Supercorsa pros that had turned themselves to slicks after a day hooning around (They were on the last legs anyway). All was fine untill it monsooned, just the slightest touch of throttle would spin up the wheel. Certainly makes you smoother!!
I have Racetecs on my track bike, if there's the slightest amount of moisture on the track they scare the crap out of me. Anyone who fits them to a road bike has my respect. Great in the dry though.
2cts I think ......... Scared the piss outta me this morning .... I had supercorsa's on the 996 they compared to the tecs felt like full wets in comparison
RaceTecs worked fine for me at the wet morning sessions on the Donington Ducati day. Over 150 mph down the Hanger straight at a very wet Silverstone earlier in the year. I think they work fine, just need too try and keep some heat in them, however that is a fine line between fast enough and too fast if you see what I mean.
This is one of the problems with using sports tyres on the road at this time of year through till the spring, they never run hot enough to work. Down spec your tyres to road spec ones (Pilot Roads, Roadtecs etc) and the knife edge temperature issue disappears, you get better grip on cold roads and perhaps more importantly a more predictable feel in the wet. You also get loads more miles on the tyre before its shagged. Giving up on sports tyres was one of the best things I have done to improve enjoyment of the bike all year - it stops that sliding out issue which saps your confidence in the wet.
If you want slippery then use racetecs/supercorsa pros at a wet Nurburgring Nordschleife, that place is slippier than an eel covered in vaseline in a bath of grease! Then add cars that are still going at a huge rate of knots wizzing past your ears! Oh and no insurance !
