749 Racing Toe Guards / Sharks Fin

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Spjallen, Dec 23, 2014.

  1. Anybody fitted a toe guard on a black swing armed 999 or 749? If you have which one would you recommend? R and G seem to be the only mass market seller of one for our bike.

  2. sorry mate,, don't even know what they are !!

  5. What is a toe guard?
Is it the same as a heel guard (if your foot is twisted around 180°)?

  6. R & G fine Simon.

  7. What purpose does it serve?

  8. It guards your toes, the clues in the name.....

  9. It's a scruteneering requirement for racing, the idea being to prevent feet, hands, body parts being drawn into the rear sprocket.

  10. Ah.

I couldn't figure out what your toes might be doing down there.

  11. You would have difficulty getting your toes in the sprocket on a black box type swing arm as the chain is inside the swing arm any way.

  12. This is the point of the thread. I know it's an acu requirement and what the purpose of the guard / fin is for, but with the natural shape of this swingarm is it really needed?

  13. by looking at the pic, no. :upyeah:

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  14. i would say no too. best bet would be to check with the club you are going racing with. You could try some dealers like Louigi Moto as they have built race 749's.

if you ever go on motoforum, there are some scrutineers that post on there.
