Hi, has anyone here raced a 749? how did/do they stack up against the 600's ? I know they'll probably get spanked by newer 600's, but how do they fare against ones of the same era? considering using one for endurance racing, so not flat out sprint stuff, more like fast inters/slow fast group pace....
I know a couple of guys who won endurance a few years ago on 749s, depends how much you want to throw at the bike really, out the box not sure it would be comeptitive but if you are running the pace you describe you'll finish where you normally finish as mid pack is about the size of your balls and how aggressive you are as much as power, imho
cheers....not too bad for a first attempt at racing.....we got 2 x 3rd place trophies! interesting....i fancy something different. i used to love my old SRAD, but the K6 is just a racebike!
Speaking from my experience, first year is how it all works and second year is progression of pace. And suspension, spend the money there, great suspensn is worth loads of power, if you can brake hard and late and settle it all and throttle open early its worh a few mph down the straight
i think using the 916 in the 600 class might have been considered cheating (even though it's probably slower than them!) or is just having a light subframe in the garage enough to make you faster on a completely different bike?
My mate has a 116hp 996. It outdrags most bikes out of a turn because of its torq, so a 600 would get mullarred expect on a longer straight by many riders who dont use all the revs. And another mate races his against 600s and 750s in the golden era stuff and loses a bit top end
I am comfortable in the fast group on the GSXR, but on the 916 at Silverstone I keep getting put in inters on Chrono days and then ride thru (almost) the entire group. This may be because of the long straights and lack of top speed.
Were you in the fast group at the DUK day? Hottrax again next year? Hoping to do a few rounds on mine next year
What gearing did you use? I appreciate that you'll change it circuit to circuit, but it would be good to know what your go to gearing was.
