I'm looking to buy a second hand Brembo Radial Master Cylinder but the seller doesn't know what size the mc is. Does anyone know how to identify the size? Many thanks.
Sorry, my bad. You do have a picture of both sides but it should have been stamped as my picture. 4759 is stamped on the barrel of mine so if there is any logic to it, it’s a 19mm diameter piston and 20mm ratio. Andy
It’s late so forgive me. A 19/20 is suitable for a twin disc non Brembo caliper set up. That said I used mine on a 748R Brembo caliper set up and it worked fine if a trifle on or off with not much feel or finesse. Andy
Thanks Andy, It's frustrating that Brembo didn't put the size on some of their master cyclinders. I've a Scrambler which has the the single disc setup so I can only use 15mm or 16mm radial master cylinder. Thanks.
That's an old radial... date stamp is 2006. most likely need to factor in a service? You could use an OEM radial off a 999/1098 etc. 16mm
Thanks for the info. Sorry to be a pain, could you do a short list of the specific bikes and what year that a 16mm radial mc is used on? Many thanks, Duncan.
No worries. Pretty much any of the bikes running twin discs. 749/999 & Diavel (built in reservoirs), 848/1098/1198, MTS, 899/1199/959/1299 all use remote reservoirs. The Scrambler Café Racer uses a 15mm radial that you could also use. I was going to try out a 16mm RCS setup on my Scrambler but have now shelved the idea as I'm moving the bike on. about the only thing I didn't try on it ....
I've got that very 19x20 master on my 916 with Brembo HPK radial calipers and I think it's just right. Plenty of power and feel, all the brakes you'll ever need with just 2 fingers.
Thank you once again! I looked into the cafe racer mc but like rocking horse poo and to buy new is another 50% more expensive than a RCS mc! I'll keep searching and hopefully something will come up. Shame that you're moving your Scrambler on. Any parts for sale from it? Many thanks.
That looks pretty old and tired (also badly stored; no blank on the outlet). I wouldn't trust my primary braking function to that, certainly not without a comprehensive service.
yeah, but I've had my fuss with it. Would like to move it on as a job lot first, with all the original parts, as I don't have time to strip it and get it back to near stock.
