Rally Experience Day

  1. Hi All.

Soon my youngest 21st birthday. Been struggling for a present, but suddenly occurred to me he would live a rally experience.

So I know this is the font of knowledge here, we are London based, he is at Uni in Nottingham, any recommendations on a good one that is not all over in an hour etc.

    TIA

  2. I don't, but I bet @Advikaz does....

  3. Hiya mate,

there’s a few around, some “better” than others. I say it like that because better isn't always better if it’s not what you’re after.. Some are more experience and some are more “schools” where you get everything that an experience gives and more (skills). That is to say, a bit more hardcore.

Brands has a rally experience, which is local to you for example.. and is reasonably priced, it’s not bad but definitely more of an experience than a school these days… they also run at Oulton as well. Think they’ve got GT86’s (replacing the awesome little pug 206’s) now which I always thought was an unusual choice for the job but the boys seem to think they’re alright.

let me know what you’re after and I’ll have a think :)

  6. I did one at Silverstone, or really opposite Silverstone, quite a number of years ago and was great fun. And it’s easy travel for both Nottingham and London

  7. Not quite the same but a mate of mine took me on a Porsche experience day at Silverstone recently and I thought it was excellent (but no idea what it cost!)

  10. Hi

I think as he hardly ever drives, but loves motors, a day experience is best, not a course, a one hit wonder. Brands or Silverstone both easy access.

  11. Same here. I’d thoroughly recommend it.

  13. A different experience that may interest him/you is a flight in a Tiger Moth from Duxford.
They are much much cheaper than the Spitfire experiences.
They vary from a short hop around the airfield to a much longer flight where he would get to fly the plane as well. Flying jackets and helmets supplied.
There is also a company down south that do dogfight experiences over the Channel again a lot cheaper than the Spitfire experience ( which I believe this company may do as well)

  15. I am plane crazy, but it’s defo car or bike for him.

  16. I did one, must be nearly 30 years ago now (gulp), they had sccobies and Mk2 Escorts, I opted for the Escort as I knew it would be tail happy, old airfield covered in mud, sawdust, you name it, it was an awesome day.... he'll love it.

Back to being an airfield now and skydives, which I would thoroughly recommend, but if he's a petrolhead then rally day it is.
