1200 Ram Mounts And Tankbags

  1. I have a RAM mount for my iPhone and case which mounts where one of the steering clamp bolts go. It works just fine.
Now, for touring and longer runs I bought one of those Givi tank ring secured tankbags.
I now have the issue that I can't see the phone properly and on full lock it hits the tankbag.
I can't for the life of me find somewhere to mount another RAM ball to attach the phone.
Anyone else experienced this issue and if so, what did you do to overcome it?

  2. Extend the ram arm?

  3. Lots of Navihalter recommendations on here - puts phone above clocks, so less time with eyes off road. I have one with a cheap bolt-on -
Ultimate Addons Replacement Plate for Click On Bike Charger (sku 16723) :: [ BuyBits ] - to allow Ultimate Addons cases to be attached.

I currently use one of these -
Impact Mount Case For Apple IPhone 5 5s - which stays on the phone all the time. I have also used a more robust version - Ultimate Addons iPhone 5 Tough Hard Case (sku 16153) :: [ BuyBits ]

Finally, a decent switchable power source - iPhone 5 Lightening Connector Direct to Battery Hard Wire Motorcycle Charging Cable (SKU 16112) :: [ BuyBits ]

    Job done!

  4. +1 for the Navihalter.
Had the same problem with a bar mounted waterproof case and my tank bag. Putting the satnav behind the screen solved the problem at a stroke and it's in a much better position to see it.

  5. I use ultimate add ons and bolt to the bar

  6. navihalter for me just got to decide to use either the tom tom or the garmin or both

  7. +1 for the Navihalter. It makes the screen adjustment a bit more difficult but it's worth it.

  8. I have a Navihalter as well.
The problem I have is that I'm a bit OCD and having my iPhone swivelled through 90 deg will drive me to distraction as the Ultimate Addons case is not symmetrical! I can see me going down that route however and simply drilling a couple of extra holes in the Navihalter mount and putting a Ram mount on it.

  9. Mine can be either landscape or portrait???

  10. So can mine. They all can! Portrait orientation obscures a chunk of the dash.

  11. Put it closer to the mirror? Whatever you put there will obscure the dash if you want to see if over the tankbag. Maybe you need to invent a transparent iphone ;)
