Hi all New to Diavels and Ducati's overall and I've managed to get a hold of a 1200 Carbon needing some significant attention. Basically a salvaged bike, stolen recovered. Lots of work to be done, but one area I'm struggling with. I have a random wire that was loose around the hands free module and it seems important as without the bike cranks but doesn't start, so suspect its the ECU earth. It terminated in a ring terminal. I've attached a screenshot that looks to suggest its connected to another wire and is in an area that I didnt expect Does anyone have some images to help me work out how to route it and where it connects too. Thanks ahead
If you download the owner’s handbook from the Ducati site you will find the wiring diagram at the end. Good news is the wire is an earth. On earlier bikes the ECUs required an earth to be connected under one of the retaining bolts for the ECU. I do not know where this earth lives but you can experiment with bolting it to the frame for starters.
Thanks Chris, I have looked at the wiring diagram but it didnt show where it connected to. Mine is a 2015 Gen 2 (should have said) and did try on the frame but didnt give a great path which sent me in a loop of problem solving the non start issue. Ill have a look if it would make sense to use the ecu bolts, now you have said it I am now thinking its more likely as I did have to move the relays and ecu to get access to the hands free system. I even have a gen1 workshop manual and there is no mention about this wire, need to find a gen2 manual to see if its more use
I couldnt see anything, I want to try and reconnect to a standard position but may end up just using any earth point
