I did this last July, and went RdGA southerly and then RN north. For me the RdGA was the main event so I went directly for it, I am not aware of any compelling reason for either direction. RdGA is over 3 days and RN is less than a day so getting back from Nice was a lot quicker than getting there if that makes any difference. This would make a really good circuit from Lyon/Geneva if only the motorail was still going from Waterloo to Lyon
Yes, I see the RdGA as the main event also. I was wondering about the views really and building a sense of climax. RN is regarded as a good road to ride but it is the mountains and scenery on the RdGA that attracts me.
