Anyone used these guys? Sulphuric Anodising – Metal Finishings Ltd They just quoted me a bloody good price on the belly pan, pillion and rider pegs and a bunch of bolts/washers and screws being re finished and anodised in black. I will get everything done in one go next week ( no more nasty oxidisation and corrosion!). But figured I might ask before hand. I was handed over to their 'Bike expert' when I was on the phone to them, so I have some hope that they know what they are doing and have obviously done bike bits before.
I will be getting it done next week probably. Most likely the week after. If you can wait. I will post before and after pics and some detailed shots of the quality.
I'm not in a rush, it's off the road now so gonna strip some bits and get them done. Like the black belly pan on the Pikes Peak and my belly pan has a few water marks which annoy me. Black will look good as the bike is red.
I was quoted £25 for the belly pan, rider and pillion peg sets and a mixture of bolts, washers and nuts (around 20 for a ball park figure to the guy). I am going for a all black belly sort of look, black head guard, black oil and water radiator guard, black belly pan, black rear sets, black pillion sets, black sprocket and black carrier with gold chain and not sure on the carrier flange yet... I like the original. It will stand out more with everything else black. Plus, doing all the bolts, nuts and washers and what have you will fight corrosion a lot better than constantly coating with ACF 50.
mate thats bloody cheap....do they have a minimum order? ive got loads of old OE bolts and bits and pieces as spares that would be nice to have done, and maybe some of bits for my 1098...
I literally called, told them I had bike bits, he told me to hold on whilst he got the bike expert. He physically handed the phone to a guy. I told him what I wanted, belly pan, foot pegs rider and pillion and a bunch of odds and ends, bolts and what have you. I then asked how much, he said around £25 from the sounds of it. He said he could give me a certain price upon seeing it. I will ship a tonne of stuff to him next week from the bike and he will call me with a price. I will keep the thread updated
Would be interested to know how they turn out.. need to get my Gilles rearsets refinished as I thought cleaning them with Mr Muscle might work well to remove the carbon exhaust deposits.. it did.. made a good job of removing the anodised finish too
I'd also be interested as I'm thinking of getting the footrests, hangers and belly pan on my Multistrada done over the Winter. I was going to get powder coating, but anodising sounds like a nice alternative.
Just a heads up and it may have no significance, but a guy on the old Ducati UK forum got his 1098S swingarm done and it was a disastrous. Not from them just talking about the anodizing process. I can't remember the specifics but it was something to do with the anodizing attacking the screw threads I think and he had to get inserts made and others just retapped. In the end he got the swingarm powder coated. Just saying John
Certain Ducati metals don't like anodising either go like they have been dipped in blue ink... Rather then deep black . I'm trying to recall what parts it was. But I'm sure they would know. If not I could ask
I was going to get my Multistrada belly pan done and I guess if it looked poor you could always powder coat it afterwards?
