Panigale all ready for Almeria. Suspension potentiometers fitted front and rear, camera in nose at front and new datalogging system in the tail. This will be my first serious run on track with the bike and I'm really eager to see how it compares to the BMW. 1.46.8 to beat . Link to my fastest lap of Almeria along side a lap Jeremy McWilliams did on my bike:-
Nice looking GPS system using Race render? I would be interested in full details or any other information. I have PZ racing setup that is getting a bit old now and the video is quite poor compared to the new HD camera systems.
The system I use is Aim. EVO4 logger and Aim pots, Gyro & Smartycam HD GP, automatically overlays the data to video..... see link above. Supplied by Race Data Systems.
That my man, is facking gawjus! And 1:46.8 is bloody rapid! I'll be happy if I can crack 1:50. Good luck and enjoy. When you going? I'm going there with Tracksense in May.
Thanks. Out 24th to 27th Jan....not sure when the next one will be but hopefully soon, just need to get the finger out. 1:50 is not to shabby either
Be patient and fer chrisakes don't drop it, its far too priddy.... I was there a bit back with Martin from Ducati Glasgow. He was on a rather spanking 1199R. He's very quick too, I think he was down in the low 1:40's. He loved the bike but told me he a took a while to get the hang of it. And by Christ, did he get the hang of it!! Enjoy....
Makes my 1:57.3 look properly shite! In my defense : It was on a Triumph Daytona 675 It was my first time at the track I've only been doing track days for about 2 years I'm not very good ;-) Lovely looking bike btw! Have a great time
Interesting to see where McWilliams made up his time. The vast majority seemed to be at the chicane. He seemed to turn in really early without feeling the need to get out to the kerb on the right before turning which was what I'd be told to do....and what most seemed to be doing. He was super aggressive (hard and deep) on the brakes into the corner at the end of the back straight too
I expect my times to be Miss Daisy +++ :Nailbiting: In my defense : I'm a mobile roadblock/pace bike I'm crap I'm Scared I'm a pussy whipped poofter I have no balls I'm old and can't see But WTF, I have a good time...
I'm sure your good enough. For me its all about having great fun without flinging yourself and your bike into the scenery. Trouble with Tracksense is that they datalog your lap times and no man on earth can help himself from trying to go faster and faster! Ha ha!! They have a timing screen up in the paddock garage and at the end of each session I kept running round there to see if my name/time had gone green! Its addictive.... And great fun. Especially if there are a few of you. At the end of one of our days Tito Rabat tipped up for a shakedown. I timed him on my Iphone and he was doing about 1:38 ish. A reality check!! We're all shite!!
@Mary Hinge The bike in the pic is an R as well. Martin is out with again this month on his Super L. I think he has done a 1.44 but we will find out how much better he finds his SL, he's raving about it Tito does 1.34s now...on a 600.......yes we are all shite. @MrAliT 1.57 is good for your first time (the vid was my 2nd time) and for being relatively new to it, I'd be happy with that. As Mary says it's about having fun and keeping it upright. Sorry to say the 675 is not an excuse you can use , Dave who drives the truck has one and he had someone (cant remember who) run it round the track and he was doing 1.43's, 2nd fastest overall I think. As you say, If you look at the guy I was following (2nd in KH championship last year I believe) all his time is made up on the chicane and the entry to the back straight.....at least 2 seconds there for me....I hope. @Nelson Don't believe you, you sound like a bit of a hustler one of these guys that pops up and woops everybody....anyhow, as long as your loving it that's the main thing regardless of your speed. Thanks for all the positive comments
No I know.....I was clutching at straws! The straights not too long so you dont loose out too much to the 1000s
Yes, I can see your bike is an R from the ally tank. And a rather splendid paint job too. I'll treat mine to one next year, thanks for the link. Martin was indeed rather impressed with his SL. He said it was like going from an 848 to a 1199 Panigale.... Gulp.... A 1:34 on a 600? I think I'll stick to my day job. Enjoy your trip and hopefully I'll see you 'out there' some time soon
Wow! A 1:43's? I know Dave and I know the bike. It's pretty standard right? I had a raz round Donington with him last summer.
All good stuff. Trackdays are only ever about improving your own riding and times. There are no prizes for being fastest, that's what racing is for.
