rear brake baffling me.

  1. 2 mornings now i have rode the bike to work and cant figure out why the back brake hardly works until i have rode the bike for about 10 to 15 minuets? fluid is fine, pads fine, really strange. any ideas guys?

  2. How about adjusting the rod in the m/cyl?

Wait for the, "I never use the rear brake, Ducati rear brakes are useless" etc. replies to come!

  3. You don't realise how much back brake you use until you buy an Aprilia RSV - they don't work at all!

  4. My RSV suffered from no back brake, eventually it was pointed out to me that it was because there's barely any 'drop' between rear master cylinder and caliper, so almost impossible to get all the air out of the system if the caliper and m/c are left in situ, because there's nowhere for the air to travel. The way to get a reliable rear brake on them is to unbolt the caliper and bungee it as high as the hose will let you, then bleed the system. Perhaps tarmac is sufferering the effects of a similar design oversight.

    Good luck

  5. So as not to disappoint: "I never use the rear brake, Ducati rear brakes are useless".

  6. Did exactly that on one of my old RSV's did the trick and transformed the brake into an actual working brake

  7. MV's are the same With them it doesn't help that th reservoir is bolted to the rear of the engine with the exhaust running the other side.
i moved it under the seat and ran a long feed pipe to the master cylinder.Cured my problem.
i believe the later models had this done from the factory.
Don't know where your reservoir is but if the fluid is boiling before it gets to the master cylinder it won't wwork
Never had a problem with 748 or 1098
