1200 Pikes Peak Rear Brake Lever...is It Just Me Or....

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by andy huggett, Oct 25, 2017.

  1. First ride out on the DVT Multi and i am struggling to get my foot on the rear brake lever due to the bulk of my boots and gammy ankle joint. Am i the only one, or is this a common discussion point?

I think the engine casing sticks out a fair bit and is not letting me get my toes onto the lever properly.

On a good note, i never knew it had hill start assist :p

  2. Yep, they are all like that sir :)

I've even seen some extend theirs so they can more easily manage

  3. Ive just ordered some Gillies adjustable gear and brake levers....just think its poor design, i know Italians have small feet but bloody hell, thats difficult to use the rear brake (i know they are useless but even so, i do like to use it sometimes ) :)

  4. Yes, it tucks right out the way. No idea if thats a ground clearance issue too?

  5. Is the enduro pedal a straight swap?

  6. Yup....not sure if its any better though. Like i say, a set of Gillies levers on the way to try out. I did notice on the pictures of the new levers that the foot peg section which connects to the arm has an allen bolt to attach it to the arm, which means if its too short and needs extending i can machine a spacer and add a longer bolt to move the foot peg out further.

I will let you know how it goes after the weekend and take some pictures

  7. I had the same problem on my 2010. I solved the problem by sourcing a spare pedal, cutting the pad off it and having it welded back on 1/2" higher. It made a huge difference. After that I could get the ABS to kick which it had never done before no matter how hard I tried.

  8. The hill start good, but why does it only stay on for the 10 secs or so ?? Bizarre, glad to hear you're liking the bike though.
I don't have the rear brake issue being only a girly size 8, but there was recently a thread where one of the lads made an extension, looked a neat job.....

PS, are your boots bulky cause they are heated also. Big girls blouse !! :D

  9. I added the AltRider brake pedal expander to mine. Big improvement for me and my size 13 EEE. Ordered from Revzilla.
