Rear Brake Line Options.

  1. One of the great things I like about the various 90’s/2000’s Ducati models is the interchangeability of parts between the various models, which is allowing me to pick and choose components for my mongrel 900ss.

I’ve fitted an underslung SL type rear caliper hanger, and made my own ‘L’ bracket to locate the other end of the torque arm on the engine case.

I’ve also used 1098 Ducati Performance Rearsets and mounted the rear master cylinder on the side of the engine, like a later bike.
To do this I’ve had to mount the master cylinder bracket over the ‘L’ bracket, and this required me to turn up a longer special bolt that doubles up as the front mounting bolt and pivot for the small lever. It obviously helps having a lathe and mill in my workshop.

Does anyone know if any standard Ducati came with my set up:
    -Engine mounted rear master cylinder.
-Underslung older style, bottom bleed valve, rear caliper on the right hand side of the bike, ie double-sided swingarm.

Why? Because none of the Rear brake lines I have can be made to fit neatly between the two.
They are all far too long or too short and the banjos are at the wrong angle.

Before I splash out on a special being made up I’m obviously looking to see if any bikes had my setup and I’ll order a rear line from one of them.

    Thanks

  2. I remembered late last night that I have a bunch of old Stainless Goodridge braided lines in the workshop somewhere that I kept when I sold off all my old Zed stuff a few years ago.

I'm hoping that I can take the banjos off, buy a meter of hose and some Olives and make my own like I used to.

I'm assuming the hose etc is still available from Demon Tweeks.
