Rear hgger - will multistrada ds hugger fit?

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by HYPERBIMDUKE, Oct 23, 2013.

  1. Hi, looking for a proper rear hugger as the Carbon Wourld on i have is useless, will a aftermarket Multistrada ds hugger fit?

  2. Yes - the (old) Multistrada had the same swingarm.
In fact, the rear hugger I have on mine is from a Multistrada and was half the price of one for a Hyper ;)

  3. Hi, thanks for that, what make is yours & is it any good?

  4. No idea what make - I bought it off ebay as it was about £40 and brand new.
It was marked up as for the Multistrada 1100 only which is probably why it never sold and was going cheap.

It has the top chain guard built in. I had to drill a hole in it on the wheel side to secure it better. There's a couple of holes in the swingarm that are already tapped (M6) but have small black rubber bungs in, so I used one of these.

I shopped around for a few months to find one that I wanted - some were funny shapes, with/without the chain guard, sizes, etc. I have one on my 748 so knew roughly what I wanted and what I was looking for.

I only fitted one because I ride it through most of the winter and want to protect the Ohlins shock. It's small enough not to notice but big enough to stop about 95% of the crap getting on the back wheel. I'd recommend one if you ride in the rain or winter.

  5. Like you I ride all year all & weather, i may extend mine widthwise & lengthwise 1st with a rubber flap, if no good I'll go the MS route. thanks for the info Ant.

  6. I'v got a fibre glass hHugger for sale.... Goes 20" round the wheel.... Small bit if damage to one hole, tiny corner knocked off.... 50 quid if you want it....

  7. I know this is an old thread but which Hyperstrada model years share the same swing arm, as I'm looking for a short rear hugger.

    Thanks

  8. The 821/4V range has a different swingarm to the 1100/796 2V range, so they are not compatible.
You'll have to stump up the cash for the expensive new one I'm afraid!

  9. Sorry for the confusion - I have a 2011 796 and want a rear hugger. Which multistrada models/years would also fit?

    Thanks

  10. All the "old" (1000/1100) Multistrada ones will fit as the 1100/796 used the same swingarm.

  11. Thank you, now I will try and find one :)
