999 Rear Hugger Problems

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Kingfixer, Mar 23, 2016.

  1. Well after having the new black box swing arm installed I bought an Ilmberger rear hugger, I put this on last night but the rear wheel catches it ? the bike has BST carbon wheels with a Metzler 190/55 rear tyre, is this the correct tire size for a 999 ?
The wheels and tyres were on when I bought it.

  2. 190/50 std fitment. Raise the hugger by putting a couple of spacers(nuts)under hugger fixing points, chain side. Watch the tyre isnt touching front inside of arm when tyre grows as it spins fast. I put 190/55 on with new chain and couldnt get wheel far enough back to get clearance. Luckily I had a 180/55 same make and that was ok.

  3. Mines the same and it's a genuine DP hugger. I use two black number plate bolt/screw plastic nuts under the hugger on the chain side. It's gives the perfect amount of clearence for the tyre.

  4. 180/55 tire and DP hugger (the short one) had clearance issues as well. Used two M6 washers on the rear left mount and one washer on the second left mount. Also needs a bit of adjusting on the right side.
