1200 DVT Rear Mud Flap

  1. Hi all, I had to take the rear mud flap of my DVT to tighten the chain ! That was the easy part ! Whilst attempting to tighten the 3 bolts that holds the mud flap in place they wouldn’t tighten in any of the lugs The bolts look ok ! Ducati UK price for the 3 bolts £30 plus postage How easy is it to ring the hub that the bolts screw into ?

  2. Do you mean you have stripped the threads? Leave the thing off, or get some helicoils fitted I guess?

  3. Thread inserts (Helicoil, other brands are available) are the way to go. Straight forward if a trifle expensive when you first buy the kit but well worth it. Andy

  4. The flap on my 1260 started to come apart, the plastic melted rivets that hold the two parts together were failing. Dealer replaced under warranty. Never fitted the new one though, still in the box it came in. A bit more spray over the top box but otherwise not a problem and makes chain adjustment much easier/quicker. Probably contrary to TUV type approval though.

  5. How easy is it to strip the threads as I didn’t put a lot of tension on the bolts ? The bike actually looks ok with the mud flap of it and as mentioned makes it easier when it comes to adjusting the chain ! I can live without the flap so long as the spray is not excessive !

  6. Lots of people take them off, looks better.

  7. They can strip easily. Made of cheese and imo original bilts too small. Retapped with bigger thread and bolts on mine.
