Hello all, Bought a 1199 late last year from a Ducati dealer. Just found out previous owner took bike back to dealer for refund as shock bolt snapped when he was riding. When I bought bike I was unaware of bike been repaired or of concern. Is this something I should be concerned about? Should bike have been repaired and sold without me knowing. Should I tell dealer I want a refund or am I being silly as its fixed now? Is there anything I need to check? Thanks for your advise.
not sure.was repaired when I bought it. I think its bike from post last year http://ducatiforum.co.uk/members/mickkirkup.37200/
in the interests of the brand - any news on this @El Toro @Rob @Tim Maccabee ? It would be good to get a company statement rather than the constant speculation. One official recall involved 375 bikes from 2012 apparently, so this could fit in with O.P.'s details. Ducati Recalls 375 Panigale Motorcycles due to Suspension Collapse Problems
These things need to be taken into perspective and looked at on an individual case basis to establish perhaps how a bike may have been treated/ridden etc. I'm sure everyone agrees that this would be the correct thing to do, and speculating on a forum is not the correct thing to do. @Tim Maccabee and Ducati UK are aware of the issues that have been spoken of and things are being dealt with where necessary. I'm sure that other country offices will also be looking into issues if they are brought to their attention. However in case you think your bike might be the subject of a recall, please call your official Dealer. Give them your chassis number and they can check the Ducati system to see if any recalls are outstanding. As an aside, regarding Panigales in general, crashes can cause damage to the shock/linkages. Hope that helps.
