Hi everyone! im new to Ducati's and im loving it. but finding it hard to control in fast corners as feels like it snaking? ive checked the rear suspension and it seems to be lose like I can move it side to side? is this normal or do I need to adjusted something? Thanks Dalton
Try firming it up and make sure tyre pressures are right. Could be the balance front to rear isn't quite right, no surprise given the ship the rear hard and front soft!
If you can move the rear swing-arm or wheel, or both, from side to side when stationary there is something wrong, and it needs further investigation before riding.
The shock will move WHat apple were stoppin me saying was the relationship between front and rear But as my keypad is 50 keystrokes behing the screen on this forum, AGAiN! And I cant be arsed to keep going back and correcting
Do you mean the shock floats from side to side on its pivots? Because that doesn't sound right. My SF shock (which is the same set-up as the 1098 SBK) doesn't budge a millimetre. If you mean the upper body of the shock rotates about its axis, that is normal. You sure the swinging arm pivot hasn't got any play in it and its that that's moving? That'll make it feel snaky.
only via another hosting site like youtube or vimeo I think? Maybe FB and a link to that? does it move ALONG the bolt laterally OR does it ROCK on the bolt but remain fairly static in where its fitted on the bike?
I recently test rode a KTM 1050 and it snaked as you describe. When I took it back the dealer said the front suspension is set quite soft and rear hard, so not matched, and working together. If the rear shock turns out to be okay - play wise, try firming up the front, or going back to factory settings and go from there.
