Morning all, I'm off to Wales on Thursday until Tuesday on the beloved red dog. Along with panniers, top box and the better half. Question, previous rides, whilst in Urban mode (with 2 up and luggage on) we have bottomed out once or twice on rough speed bumps. This is with all boxes at max weight (and a little more if I'm honest) and 2 average weight people on. What options should I increase if I want to: 1) stop bottoming out 2) stiffen up the suspension 3) maybe give more of a ride height It's not critical but it would be nice as it's very annoying when it happens going over a sharp speed bump and hearing the belly pan scrape or clunk against tarmac... Cringe worthy.
No one got an insight on this? I'm aware you can buy an upgraded spring from 85Nm to 100Nm, but that's not an option right now. So what settings would give me the above?
Does it have electronic suspension? On mine I choose a setting and it adjusts the preload. I'd suggest adding some preload, say if you are flat footed one up add enough that you are tip toes one up, and can always add couple clicks of compression if needed
Try Kai's Atherton Mcr Kais – Ohlins | The UK's number one performance centre As you said fit an unrated spring, I did and it sorted the issue you are describing approx £150 fitted Don't bother updating the front as most people who do ask for it to be reversed. You said the upgrade wasn't an option presently so maybe a call might open up another alternative.
Feck me, how fat are you?! I'm 18st ish with kit and even over hump back bridges and both wheels off, in sport mode signle rider preload on the skyhook, it doesnt bottom out. When I stick it on rider plus luggage, at standstill it lifts the ride height a good inch and makes it difficult to touch down even in softest urban mode
+1 with Bradders. I am of a similar svelte frame and when out with the missus the other day didn't bottom out anywhere although mine stays in Sport mode.
I presume the mode isn't causing the issue is it? I mean I've only ever used the sport or touring mode because both give you the full beans
Well I think I have found the settings for me one up no luggage, urban sees min preload and softest suspension, touring sees preload set at 3 with the harder of soft settings, just about the best compromise for me,at last.
My 2012 has an uprated spring fitted by the previous owner so can't comment on how it felt before but being honest it's absolutely brilliant handling Next up for me is that SCU upgrade from ohlins just to see how it works
