Rear View Camera

  1. My 848 mirrors are virtually useless(vibration and great view of my elbows) and I was considering installing a rear view camera connected to a screen mounted between the tank and the clocks. Has anyone tried a similar set up?

  2. Why don't you try mirror extenders first?

  3. Can't imagine a camera working very well. Have you tried looking at a small screen in bright daylight? Plus being small I think you would need too much time to accustom your eyes to it, leaving you not looking where you're going.

  4. Does it take longer for small people to accustom their eyes? Didn't know that :)

  5. Is this for reversing?

  6. Thanks for the input guys. Thought someone on here would have hooked up a camera and monitor but obviously not. In order of posts's, Don't fancy the extenders, wee bit expensive and I like my Nolan flip, don't see it being any different than looking at a sat nav and have done that often, :), yes exactly.

  9. This sounds very "hammer to crack a nut". The chicken dance is a lot simpler and cheaper and works OK. But then loads of people on here like to invent fairly pointless technical challenges for themselves, so why not?

  10. I'd like my 1198 to have lcd screen mirrors with the rear view camera broadcast onto them. The helmet is pants as it'll need replacing every 5 yrs at least and every time you crash wearing it. Its a stupid idea to have it in the lid.

His webpage looks a bit screwed on my browser (Firefox) but scroll to the bottom.

I have DP mirrors on mine, they are smaller than the originals but hold steady, so although you need to "chicken dance" you can actually see what's there when you do. Moto Science does a version of them plus a bigger mirror too.

@repoman on here got a set from them maybe PM him to get an opinion.

The problem with the standard mirror is not the size or positioning IMHO its the joint allows it to buzz and shake the mirror and the resulting image is next to useless

That's all I got for now

  12. need to do something myself also, not knowing whats going on behind me is deffo spoiling my ride.

  13. Ride faster, then the only thing going on behind you will be stuff you already know about because you overtook it.

Fear not that the mirrors shake, as you'll still be able to see flashing blue lights in them.

  14. that's what i worry most about, theirs always someone faster than you, and more so, the police in your mirror you cant see.

  15. Even with my mirrors, it would be difficult for someone to creep up on me. Except at night. But I dont speed too much at night if at all. I always know whats behind me.

  16. your career?

  17. Nope. You. :p

  18. with your halitosis it's probably the safest place to be.
