So the garage changed the tyre and have been confused as to why the wheel jams on the swing arm on the right side and are confused as to why the wheel spindle does not protrude through the nuts far enough to pass the MOT. Also why the wheel is in the middle but with a spacer only on the left hand side. When they tighten it it jams the hub against the swingarm. Any ideas on what might have gone wrong here?
Richgilb, Agree with WAH900, the cone is locking the swing arm to the outside part of the bearing which is pressed in the wheel. The small part of the cone should touch the inner part of the bearing locking that up and this leaves the outer bearing and wheel to turn freely. Not sure about the protruding spindle has it always been like this? Eagle eyed WAH Cheers Gaz
Yes I suppose you can slide the spindle back, pop it out and turn it round without even taking the wheel off?
Yeah.....fumble fumble fumble, but yeah......... But if you have ridden it, check the effing bearings
Armright if in workshop wheel out, switch around, wheeel back. Simple Btw many ( ) may have done it a fair few times under duress....
