A mate of mine recently got a very nice 1199R Panegale.. and the rear wheel nut won't loosen. He knows his stuff with spanners. But cannot shift this rear nut. I lent him my 1" drive socket and T bar. But no go, even tried and impact wrench. Any ideas?!!?
torqued up to 230 couldn't budge the one on my V4PP last week. had to nip round to the local dealer who soon sorted it with compressed air powered impact driver - though to be fair they had tightened it like that when they changed the tyres
You need an impact wrench with cojones. A battery wrench will not shift that nut when its tight. The Clarke unit above will, an air wrench will. That's about it. BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT SET TO LOOSEN before hitting the trigger. I might know a wanker that did it the wrong way around at first . Once sorted, it still took the nut back off though I have two wrenches now, an electric to remove, a battery to refit. That way the wheel nuts do not get over torqued when refitting
top tip from my side if your having troubles, it to strap the bike down on a trailer /in a van to get rid of the torque bounce when using a long bar etc. this works every time for me. saves on the chain stretch / possible rear brake damage via the impact driver as well
