I know it's probs been posted on here before. But does anyone know a good quality/cheap rear wheel nut socket/spanner. There on Ebay for £56 which to me seams a bit of a rip off, what size is the nut. I know there pretty tight but can you undo it with an open jaw spanner or does it have to be a ring/socket?
You'll need at least a 3ft breaker bar too, I've got a breaker bar and a length of scaffolding pole to put it into terms you'll understand. Go ahead and try the open jaw spanner and say goodbye to your knuckles.
I bought a Sealey 55mm 3/4 inch drive socket, and used it with a two foot long breaker bar, got the rear nut undone no probs!
Ok socket it is then. Not worried about the torque just the socket size. I have a 25:1 torque multiplier I can use if needs be. So a 55mm 3/4 drive socket should do it?
I have a Sealey 240v gun thing that cost £60 and gets the nut off easily. Highly recommended. Socket will be fine.
I got a strong missus. Handed her the dual use socket from JHP(front and rear nut), a scaffolding pole and i sat on the bike with the wheel against the wall. On a separate note, I know the manual quotes 230NM, it is really too much. JPH only advised 205 or 210. Another example is for R6, they advise 110NM on the sprocket nuts. This was even double confirmed at Yamaha dealers. For those who try to put 110NM through the sprocket nut normally end up quite expensive.
