I bought a HM quickshifter when I bought my 999. Both times I've used it I've had problems with the engine management light coming on then the bike going into limp mode. If I keep shifting gears the bike then shuts down and won't restart until I unplug the HM. The bike runs perfect without the HM connected. I've spoken to HM numerous times with no success. Can anyone recommend another make?
What are the EOBD errors when the MIL comes on. If the light stays on then switch ignition off, hold the left button down on the dash, turn ignition on, keep button held down, the codes should show on the screen. Eg 10.1, 10.2 etc. post the codes here as it may indicate what is happening.
FWIW, I used the HM Race pattern QS without any issues on my old S4RS. Being an older generation pre-999 bike, it worked fine.
Until you resolve what the issue with the HM unit is, I wouldn't be too hasty. As it is entirely possible that the fault is with your bike and not the QS. It may indeed be the QS but I would want to be sure before I forked out for a new one. Be interesting to see if an identical one still did the same.
i too would check the HM and your bike first, maybe clear the faults, then bypass the QS and then see if the errors reoccur but if you are in the market I recently bought a Cordona and i highly recommend it (its not cheap with the race shift strain gauge lever though)
