I just spent a frustrating hour straining, cursing, slipping and generally buggering about trying to remove two dirt bike tyres with a singular lack of success, not helped by a bad back, arthritis in my left hand and a missing tyre lever! So, anybody have any good recommendations for a good rig for the man palace? With 7 bikes in the garage I really need to get this sorted as I can't keep taking them to the local tyre wallah! Nothing expensive mind, simple and cheap is how I roll! Ta in advance BTD
Having just done my first 2 I used the package from Abba Stand ( bead breaker, tools, rim protector, lube and balancer. but it I guess that's not low cost route. You can break beads with a vice if its deep enough and I have been advised ( and watched video's now) of zip tie method of putting ties on. It still requires physical effort. Good quality and long tyre levers and rim protectors are a must otherwise. The abbastand came with 2, one good ( curved with a form that would latch onto the tie bead - this worked well so I ordered more from amazon (Riolo was the brand). The rim protectors have a loop for string - use it - as when it pings off inside the tyre it is a PITA to get it out
Make sure you push the tyre down to the middle of the rim. Good quality levers, help a lot...I like a combination of Michelin type and DRC Spoon iron. I can recommend Rabaconda tyre changer, but is a little bit expensive, might not worth it unless you are changing tyres on a weekly/monthly basis. (especially suited for quick replacement of bib mousse) https://www.greenlandmx.co.uk/en/ra...MI6_TUte6c9AIV2oTVCh0JNgDXEAAYASAAEgKtafD_BwE Below is quite good, you can still push the tyre to centre of the rim when spooning from the opposite side. https://www.dirtbikexpress.co.uk/wo...MI8f-Cmu-c9AIVAgGLCh16-gFzEAYYASABEgJy2PD_BwE
Bought this last night: ✨ Motorcycle Tyre changer for 4-21" tire bead breaker ConStands XL9 black ✔ buy here (motea.com) Comes with a wheel balancer for about £140, not bad. It looks like a Sealy knock off. We shall see in a few days...
It does show some sort of long tool for bringing the bead over the rim, the long black object leaning to the left. Is this included. ISTR that with the Sealy device this was either extra or the supplied one was sub standard. I own and use a Max2H kit with their balancer as well as the cones for the SSA wheel. Not cheap admittedly but does a good job. Mice, in my old shed, ate the coating off of the stop pin one winter. Replacement was quick and not expensive considering they sent it via DHL from Germany, €20 IIRC.

So I need to always use a semi-automatic car jobby machine.
