Recommendation For Roller Shutter Garage Doors

  1. I'm in the process of insulating my garage. This involves insulation in the walls/rafters and changing the existing garage doors. I thought I'd ask if anyone can recommend a company who supplies and fits Electric Garage Roller Shutter doors.

  2. Just had a ‘special offer’ cheapy from Garolla, who are Yorkshire based but use local independent fitters nationally. Got exactly what I wanted, no hassle, no fuss, brilliant local installer and surprisingly good quality for a bargain basement door. Andy

  3. I recently had one and I can recommend SecureRoll as a make of garage door. They have aluminium slats with insulation inside. I had a double door so had the larger 77mm slats. My mate had a single with the smaller slats. We are both pleased with ours.
I would avoid the roller doors with pvc slats. They seem flimsy and not very secure.

They were measured, ordered and fitted by a local garage door installer. Doubt he'd come to Yorkshire, but you probably have local fitters who supply them.

  4. I have a Hormann ,been up nearly two year double width insulated and draft free, not the cheapest but very pleased with it

  5. +1 for Garolla. Very helpful, efficient and good value. Got mine done nearly a year ago and no problems.

  6. Had a guy come round last night from Garolla. Nice guy, seemed to know his stuff and did a quote there and then. No idea if it's competitive, but I was fairly happy with everything. Thanks for the lead. :upyeah:

  7. Again, thanks for the lead, got a guy coming round on Thursday, so will have something to compare against. Bothe the Garolla and SecureRoll are very similar in spec. 5 year guarantee on the SecureRoll and 2 years on the Garolla. :upyeah: Really appreciate your help. Always good to get personal recommendations. :)

  8. I've had Hormann doors before and didn't have any problems with them. I'll take a look, Thanks. :)

  10. Get extra remote controls as part of the price/deal as they cost a fortune if you buy them afterwards!

  15. YMMV but I really didn't like Crocodile's 80's double glazing 'just for today discount' tactics and I swerved them for a local company.

Have an ask around locally mate.

  16. I had a pair of SWS roller shutters fitted back end of last year. Used a local installer.
The doors carry the “sold secure” approval, which can help with insurance.
The doors themselves are very good. Draught proof and watertight from the get go. I fitted a weatherstrip along the bottom.
I used a local installer for a couple of reasons… he was 400 quid cheaper than a couple of online outfits for the same doors. He’s local in case of problems and also the doors need servicing to keep the warranty up.

  17. Bought a generic programmable fob for my Garadoor/Hormann door off of Amazon. About £15 then, not currently available though, plus it's gone up a little. Stated it was compatible and managed to program it the same as an OEM replacement. As it has 4 buttons I also set one of the others to operate the DP alarm on the bike. Nice and slim so fits in bike jacket pocket better than the bulky Hormann one. Not quite the range/penetration though so you have to get a little closer to the door. To be fair it might be in need of a new battery.
