Thinking of a change from Two Piece leathers for road, to a good quality Textile two piece suit. Riding a Panigale, for day runs and a few weekends away in Scotland. Looking at Spidi Hard Track Motorcycle Jacket Not so sure about lower pockets / zips rubbing on tank. Looking for recommendations. Thanks Scotrmz
Scotrmz, I wear a Dainese carve master goretex in black on my 899 with furygan leather race trousers. Take a look. Jacket is the best I've owned in 30 years of biking.
Thanks Guys for info, ended up buying above Spidi with RR Pro leather trousers. Tried on Dainese, fit was not great for me, but quality looked great.
Any budget in mind? Or the thread will go on a while!!!! I wear Wolf Titanium outlast because it's got a really tight fit, almost like leathers and is nicely styled, it was really waterproof until 3 years and not leaks like a bitch in the trousers! Having said that unless it's Goretex, NO PRODUCT will be guaranteed to keep you dry for a long period of time, the liners get pulled and then water gets through. If U have the budget, look at alpinestar Tech road Goretex as its a laminate gore (the water runs off it, doesn't gather in it) and then above that Rukka, which is guaranteed for 5 years!!! The only thing with Rukka is that u are looking at £1000 but there is a reason while a lot of professional riders and police service etc use it, it's good stuff if u don't mind the bland styling. Either buy cheap and replace every 2 years (kinda what I did) or buy expensive that has a 5 year guarantee, most stuff in the middle is a bit of a waste of time
I bought Rukka which was very expensive but it's pretty flawless in performance and will last a long time. Important feature for me is that the exterior layer does not let water through to a second waterproof layer which keeps you warmer and lighter.
Rukka armaxis jacket and Armaxion pants, you could start a career as a north sea fisherman with this stuff...brilliant
Yeh, it's great gear, very well designed using the best materials. I do prefer to buy the best gear I can afford as infrequently as possible, so at Rukka prices, it's got to last for the next 10 years... I met a guy in the same kit that was 10 years old, and it had faded a bit but basically still perfectly functional and he was very happy with it.
As much as like Rukka and similar gear, for me the price is steep. So, the only option would be to look for used gear. Any reason not to buy used?
I sold my Dianese carve master gear on here, £750 quids worth for £350, I'd only worn it 4 times so from that perspective absolutely not!
None at all as far as I can see, especially if you can find someone who is replacing last years gear for this years. Not sure how you make sure it fits OK before buying it though?
I've got some textiles that I use on my adventure bike, but any time I try and ride my panigale in them, I slide around all over the seat
I've put a search on eBay so will keep an eye out for used. The only thing I've noticed is the Rukka zips break but replacing them with a ring pull seems to work. Even good used gear can be expensive, but yes, big reduction on the new price.
Only ever use leather on the quick bike, but only use it in dry weather. Like you, adventure bike I use textile. I use textile more, so that's really were I should be spending more. My priorities are all wrong.
On the Rukka zips breaking, I use the silicon lube that comes with the jacket and so far had no problem in about 10k miles.
